Dear Tourist.

Thank you for choosing us. Please read the following very carefully:

The system of services and products may sometimes be different from those in your own country.
We strongly suggest you read the following very carefully:

About the costs: Our costs are expressed in American dollars and you have voluntarily accepted and agreed the price to pay before making the reservation. Avoiding any setbacks for later claims.

TRAVEL IN PERU: Ukukus Travel operates in regions of standard accommodation, where transportation and services might NOT be what you normally expect.

Although we take great care and diligence in providing our tourists with the best service, traveling to Peru requires flexibility, patience, a mind open to our culture, a good attitude and comprehension towards the changes that might be made without prior notice due to circumstances beyond our control (Force Majeure – see below). When booking any of the trips offered, you must agree tothe changes Ukukus Travel may make without being liable for the following circumstances:

FORCE MAJEURE: This is any event that for Ukukus Travel is inevitable despite having made use of all the ways possible to resolve it. This includes events such as wars or war threats, revolts, diseases, natural disasters, adverse weather conditions, fires or similar events that are out of our control.

In this case Ukukus Travel will not be liable for such events and reserves the right to modify, postpone or even cancel the tourist's travel (this being the last option of course).

In case of strikes, protests, stoppage, etc, we may have to advance our departure one day or complete the journey in less days, modifying the itinerary (normally of 3 days). You accept and agree, at no extra cost and/or disbursement on our part.

Note: In the case of the classic Inca Trail, once booked it may not be changed in any way since it is controlled by the INC (Peruvian Government Institution) that does not allow any modifications after it has been booked.

TRAVEL INSURANCE: Before starting your trip we strongly recommend you to purchase travel insurance covering accidents, medical expenses and emergency repatriation, including aerial rescue or aerial ambulance.

We also recommend it covers cancellations and lost baggage. Please send us a scanned copy of your insurance policy to our email or give a copy to a trusted family member or friend.

RISKS: On booking any of our adventure tours (Inca Trail, Salcantay, Jungle tours Choquekirao, Inca jungle, Lares, etc) you acknowledge the risks this involves for which you fully assume these risks on doing these trips. Ukukus Travel does not accept any liability regarding events that may occur during the journey due to tourist negligence or events escaping our control.

RESPONSIBILITY: Ukukus Travel declares it assumes no liability or obligation for accidents, damages, diseases, death, delays, injuries to other persons or property. Neither does it assume responsibility for causes of force majeure, strikes, weather conditions, earthquakes, political situations, etc, that may determine cancellations, changes, delays, etc. Any expenses produced by these situations must be payed by the customer. Similarly, the company is not liable for lost baggage, thefts or damages, considering that these belongings go in a place known and accepted by the customers and under their own responsibility.

Ukukus Travel reserves the right to cancel or modify the itinerary schedule when considering it is for the best development of services. The passengers are responsible for having the appropriate documentation, passports, visas, TRAVEL INSURANCE, vaccines, vouchers, etc. Ukukus Travel is not liable for any delays or expenses due to inappropriate documentation or lack of travel documents.

About Risks and Responsibility: We need you to sign and leave your digital fingerprint on our risk and liability sheet, either at our offices or meeting place, before the start of any of our tours and you hereby accept and agree to this.

When sending your personal data for the reservation, your passport or ID card number must be valid. Please take into account that the Inca Trail authorities are very strict on verifying passports numbers at the 82 Km entrance control to the Inca Trail).

The ISIC card (if applicable) must also be valid and must be presented on entering the Inca trail along with the document with which the reservation was made (original documents).

To confirm your reservation you are required to pay pre-payment of the total tour cost, the remainder will be payed once you are in Cuzco.

To qualify for the student discount, you must send us a valid ISIC; it is important that you send us a scanned copy at the time of making the reservation.

Shipping costs must be covered by the customer and are not included in our tour costs.

One or two nights before your trip, there will be a preliminary briefing at our offices or your hotel at approximately 6 or 7 pm (the exact time will be confirmed).

Payment of final balance: We require you to complete the remaining payment in our offices or at your hotel when we meet, which is to be made before you start your tour and in cash (in American dollars or national currency). We reserve the RIGHT to cancel your travel if you do not effect payment within the established term.

Return to Cuzco: The return ticket offered is by train from Aguas Calientes to Ollantaytambo in BACKPACKER class with bus transfer from Ollantaytambo to Cuzco.

Returning on 5th day: If you want to stay at Aguas calientes an extra night we offer the option of purchasing your train ticket for the 5th day but the costs involved in the stay are at the customer's expense (new entrance ticket to Machu Picchu, buses up and down, bus from Ollantaytambo to Cuzco, meals, accommodation, etc.).

Train Tickets: Since Perurail Company disposes and manages the train schedules we are subject to such modality. Perurail will issue the return tickets for us in the following (approximate) schedules:

21:30 PM

We have no control on the schedules for which you accept and agree to the schedule of the return ticket issued.

Should you want to change the schedule of the train ticket and if there is a chance to do so either in the same train class or in another category, the customer agrees to assume all the extra charges involved.

(1) Deposits sent for reservations are NON-refundable and non-assignable.

(2) Ukukus Travel must be notified of any changes or cancellations in your travel as soon as possible and you must confirm these by sending notification via e-mail.
(3) Once the FINAL balance has been paid, payment will NOT be returned for cancellations; however, we may be able to give you some tickets (entrance right to Machu Picchu, 1 train ticket, 1 bus ticket). In case you have paid only a pre-payment, unfortunately no refund will be made.
(4) A letter of claim for your insurance company may also be provided prior request to us.

VERY IMPORTANT: We strongly suggest that you stay at high altitude (above 3000 meters, in Cuzco or another high-altitude city), during 3 or 4 days (minimum) before starting your journey. This has the purpose of reducing the possibility of altitude sickness. You can also help your body acclimatize by drinking lots of fluids, adding a little sugar to your drinks, eating foods rich in carbohydrates, avoiding cigarettes and alcohol and drinking coca (ancient traditional leaf) tea.

Diamox may also be useful, please ask your doctor for a prescription.

On confirming your reservation you have expressed you fully agree to our terms and conditions.

Note: The terms and conditions are subject to changes without previous notice.

Thanks again for preferring us and have a wonderful trip!

VERY IMPORTANT (2): We recommend you arrive in Cusco 48 hours or more before trek departure as we may need to leave earlier than scheduled in case of strikes or other events out of our control (see Force Majeure above).

Welcome to MACHUPICCHU TICKETS By Ukukus Travel E.I.R.Ltda

This website allows you to purchase Machupicchu tickerts, quickly and secure , your entrance tickets to Machu Picchu. The access to the Citadel is open to everybody, all year round, but now it is limited to 2500 people per day for Machu Picchu and to 400 people per day, in two groups, for Wayna Picchu.

We are a reliable travel company with a fast and secure system to purchase your entrance tickets by our web site.

Before you actually discover this fabulous citadel, we invite you to join us on a virtual tour within the Peruvian Andes and to find out why Machu Picchu is considered one of the 7 most beautiful sites of the World. Now, take a breath, imagine and dream, you are almost in Machu Picchu... Welcome!

Can everyone go to Machu Picchu?

Yes, there isn't a minimum age or any other restriction to visit the Citadel. In fact, even children can visit Machu Picchu because it is not very hard or risky. The visit takes in general 3 hours and it is done following a marked fixed path but, besides some places where the access is forbidden, the visitor can walk around and visit almost the entire Citadel.

At the end of the visit, some people would like to visit the mountain nearby which dominates the Citadel, called Wayna Picchu. We think it is a must and the ascension is worth it. The visit of Machu Picchu allows you to walk around the streets, see the sites, the houses, the monuments, just from right there. The visit of Wayna Picchu allows you to have a great overview of the whole Citadel and the view is really awesome.

Regarding the access, there is no difficulty at all: there is no escalade, no dangerous places or difficult passages. In fact, people with mobility issues can perfectly do the visit.

To sum up, this visit is open to everybody, it takes half a day and can be done with or without visiting Wayna Picchu.

Who manages the visit, the entrance, the tickets?

The Citadel of Machu Picchu is a national and international classified and protected site; therefore, it depends on Peruvian Government and particularly on the Ministry of Culture Cusco. They establish access conditions, regulations, entrance fees. Every agency, ours included, must go see there and immediately pay the full amount to purchase entrance tickets.

Are there limitations for the access to Machu Picchu or Wayna Picchu?

During many years, there were no access limitations to entry the Citadel of Machu Picchu. Since July 15, 2011, and without previous notice, the Peruvian Government has taken 3 measures: the first has been to limit the access to Machu Picchu to 2500 people per day. That is why an availability system has been implemented. It is possible to purchase an entrance ticket only if there are available spaces. Except under special circumstances, once the 2500 spaces have been sold, it is no longer possible to have one. The second measure has been to limit the access to Wayna Picchu to 400 people per day and to set a price to the entrance. The access has been divided in 2 groups: 200 people to enter Wayna Picchu from 7:00 to 8:00 and 200 people to enter between 10:00 and 11:00. The entrance ticket to Wayna Picchu must be purchased when purchasing the ticket to Machu Picchu and you must also choose the group while purchasing (7:00-8:00 or 10:00-11:00). After the purchase is made, it is no longer possible to make any changes: add or eliminate the entrance to Wayna Picchu or change the group. The third measure has been to eliminate the sale of entrance tickets on site. For all these reasons, it is no longer possible to purchase your entrance ticket at the last minute (on site or through this website).

What is the best period to do the visit?

Peru is a big country with many different weathers. That is why it would be difficult to set a fine period to visit several places. However, we consider that the best season is from June to September. For the Machu Picchu tour, the warmer season is from November to March but it is also the rain season. We think that it is nicer to have a sunny but cool day than having a hot but rainy day. So, we preferably recommend doing it between May and October. Notice that Machu Picchu is open every day all year round (7/7, holidays included). We suggest you to see the weather page for more details.

What to do with my luggage during the visit?

At the entrance of the Citadel you will find lockers where you can leave your belongings to have a pleasant visit of the site. This service has a cost.

Do you practice an ethical commerce?

The purpose of ethical commerce is, let's remember, that a commercial activity should respect social conditions (rights, guarantees for employees, decent salaries, etc) and environmental conditions (respect and protection of the environment, of sites, of fauna and flora). Since this is a very important goal, we are proud to claim that we respect all our employees and their work conditions.

  • Use sneekers or walking shoes.
  • Health
  • The main problem you might encounter in Cusco is because of the altitude. However, in Machu Picchu you will be at a lower altitude. In general, we recommend:
  • To drink coca- leave infusions (mate de coca) upon arriving in Cusco. Every public place and hotel have some and even some hotels give it to customers for free.
  • To drink a lot of water during the excursion.
  • Tap water in most of Peru is potable, but the chemical and bacteriological content varies from place to place. However, to avoid problems, we recommend you to always drink bottled water.
  • If you smoke, try to slow down a little bit.
  • If you feel sick, tell your guide immediately. He is well trained and will be able to help you or to take the necessary measures.

What to bring

  • Camera.
  • Boots, tennis shoes or walking shoes with no heels.
  • A hat or cap.
  • Rain wear for the rainy season.
  • Insect repellent.
  • Sun screen Lotion.
  • Sun glasses.
  • A sweaters or a jacket.
  • A Swimsuit for the hot springs in Aguas Calientes.
  • Some local currency for tips.

All prices are indicated in US Dollars and they are subject to change without notice. They can also be indicated in other currencies for information only. In this case, the amount indicated is only an estimation based on an average and rounded up exchange rate. The only valid prices are those indicated in US Dollars through the whole Site.

After payment, prices are not subject to any change, even if exchange rates or prices change between the date of purchase and the date of the visit on the e-ticket.

Changes after purchasing

When purchasing entrance tickets, the visitor gives several information such as the date of the visit, his name, etc. After the payment of the on-line purchase, no information can be changed, without any exception.

Required documents

For every purchase, the Peruvian Government requires that every visitor communicates his/her full name and passport number or a National Identity Document (one or the other called below document) for Peruvians or for people from countries on the border areas which have an agreement with Peru (DNI). No other document is accepted because it would be rejected by the authorities. The same document is required at the entrance of Machu Picchu to avoid identity theft. The visitor is committed to bring his/her document the day of the visit and to make sure it matches the one used during the purchase. In order to avoid any problem, we ask visitors to make a copy of the document used to reserve and to keep it until the day of the visit.

These measures are taken by the Peruvian Government and in case of infringement of points indicated above and/or if he/she is denied the access to Machu Picchu or to the optional sites, the visitor cannot pretend to get any refund.

  • If during the purchase the visitor gives us an incorrect or incomplete document number, the ticket will be unusable and if the visitor wants an entrance he must cancel his ticket without any possibility of a refund and purchase another one depending on the availability at that time.
  • The same conditions apply if the document is renewed between the day of the purchase and the day of the visit or in case the document is lost or stolen.
  • If the visitor had a special rate for people with Peruvian nationality or legal residents in Peru or people from the CAN, he/she must show the original corresponding document to the Peruvian Authorities at the entrance of Machu Picchu: the Documento Nacional de Identidad (DNI) for Peruvians or the Carné de Extranjería (CE) for residents in Peru and the passport or DNI for people from the CAN. Otherwise, the visitor would have to arrange this problem on his own. From our experience, in general the access is simply denied for attempt of fraud.

Cancellations and Refunds

  • It is not possible to have a refund, even partial, for one or several entrance tickets to Machu Picchu and/or to the optional sites, for any reason whatsoever, such as: following a cancellation request, in case of no-show of the visitor(s), in case of cancellation during the trip, etc.
  • In case of purchase of tickets from the client and impossibility for our Agency to buy them for any reason, a full refund of the total amount paid will be made, without any fee.
  • Exceptionally, the access to archaeological sites might be interrupted or closed in the last minute due to natural causes (bad weather, landslides or other) or to human causes (strikes or other) beyond our control. In that case, no refund will be made.

Unavailability after purchasing

Since July 15, 2011, the Peruvian Government has limited the access to Machu Picchu and to the optional sites (Wayna Picchu, Machu Picchu Mountain and Museum). In consequence, the purchase of tickets is made depending on available spaces at the moment of purchasing them at the Ministry of Culture Cusco. After the visitor purchases and pays the corresponding amount, our Agency will make as soon as possible the real purchase at the Ministry of Culture Cusco. If for any reason due to our staff or to a third party the real reservation cannot be made on time and there are no more available spaces, we will send immediately an email to the visitor proposing:

  • to choose another date depending on availability at that time. This change of date is charge free, even if the price of the new date had changed.
  • to get a refund. In this case, our Agency will proceed to a full refund, with no additional fees.
